Korean Toners

Hydrating, soothing and balancing Korean toners to prep skin.

In Korean skincare, a toner is not the harsh, alcohol-heavy astringent many people remember. K-Beauty toners are usually watery, hydrating and soothing, designed to refresh skin after cleansing and prepare it for the serums and creams that follow.

Some toners focus on hydration, others on calming, and some contain mild exfoliating ingredients for smoother-looking texture. Many people layer a hydrating toner two or three times on dry days, a technique often called the 7-skin method.

Toners are especially useful in dry climates and during Canadian winters, when an extra watery layer helps skin feel more comfortable before cream. If you prefer a minimal routine, a hydrating toner can be skipped on humid summer days, while an exfoliating toner counts as part of your weekly exfoliation, not an extra step on top of it.

How to choose

  • Dry or dehydrated skin: hydrating toners with hyaluronic acid, glycerin or rice. See hydration.
  • Sensitive skin: soothing toners with heartleaf, centella or mugwort. See sensitive skin.
  • Oily skin and visible pores: balancing toners with green tea or a mild BHA. See oily skin.
  • Dull skin: gentle exfoliating or brightening toners. See dull skin.

How to use

After cleansing, pour a little toner into your palms and press it into the skin, or sweep it on with a cotton pad. Follow straight away with a serum and moisturizer. Exfoliating toners are best used a few times a week. Our routine builder shows where toner fits.
