Description
What it is
Cactox is Dr. Melaxin’s pore-care line built around cactus, a plant known for holding water in hot, dry climates. This product is its most unusual format: a jelly serum in a spray bottle. Shaken, the jelly breaks into a fine mist that lands on the skin as a cooling, light serum. The brand designed it to give an instant cool, tightened feel, to make pores look smaller, to help control shine and to de-puff the face. It can be used two ways: as a serum on bare skin after cleansing, or as a refreshing mist over makeup during the day. The bottle holds 80 ml (2.7 fl oz).
Key ingredients
- Cactus mucilage (Opuntia ficus-indica): the line’s signature, a moisture-holding plant gel that gives the cooling, plumping feel.
- Niacinamide: vitamin B3, for the look of pores, excess oil and uneven tone.
- Panthenol: vitamin B5, for moisture-barrier support.
- Centella asiatica extract: a classic calming Korean plant extract.
- Several forms of hyaluronic acid: light hydration without a greasy feel.
- Caffeine and adenosine: often used in de-puffing and smoothing formulas.
- Peptides, ceramide NP and squalane: supporting ingredients for a smoother, comfortable finish.

How to use
- Shake the bottle well to activate the jelly texture.
- As a serum: after cleansing, close your eyes and spray evenly over bare skin from about 20 cm away.
- Pat gently until absorbed, then follow with moisturizer.
- As a mist: spray over makeup anytime the skin feels dry, warm or shiny.
Tip: keep it in the fridge in summer or after a workout for an extra cooling, de-puffing effect in the morning.
What to expect
- Right away: a cool, refreshed, tighter feel, and pores that can look less obvious for a while.
- Over time: with daily use, more balanced-feeling skin and a smoother look in the T-zone.
- Limits: pore size is largely genetic; no mist shrinks pores permanently.
Who it suits
The Cactox mist suits combination and oily skin that gets shiny during the day, people who wake up with a puffy face, and anyone who wants a quick refresh over makeup at the office or while travelling. Read our guide to Korean skincare for sensitive skin before trying it if your skin reacts to fragrance.
Who should be careful
For external use only. Close your eyes and mouth when spraying and do not spray directly into the eyes. The formula is long and contains fragrance and botanical extracts such as eucalyptus, mint and lemon, as well as retinol and vitamin C derivatives in small amounts, so fragrance-sensitive or very reactive skin should be careful. Stop if irritation occurs.
Patch test first. Apply a small amount to the inner forearm or behind the ear and wait 24 to 48 hours before using it on the face.
Frequently asked questions
Is it a serum or a mist?
Both. It is a jelly serum packaged in a spray. On bare skin it works as a serum step; over makeup it works as a refreshing mist.
Will it disturb my makeup?
Spray from a distance in a fine, even layer and let it dry without rubbing. Most people use it to refresh dry or cakey areas over makeup.
Does it really reduce puffiness?
The cooling effect and caffeine can make the face feel and look less puffy for a while. Puffiness from salt, allergies or lack of sleep comes back if the cause stays.
Can I use it every day?
Yes, morning and evening, and as often as you like during the day as a mist, as long as your skin is comfortable.
