Description
What it is
Unlike the jar balms, this is a squeeze tube of soft white cream that whips into a dense lather. It is the brand’s suggested second step after a Clean It Zero balm, removing the emulsified oil and any water-based grime left behind so skin feels fresh rather than coated.
Banila Co describes it as a moisturizing lather that cleans while respecting the skin barrier. In practical terms it is a classic Korean soap-based foam cleanser (fatty acids neutralized with potassium hydroxide) softened with glycerin and a mild taurate surfactant. That type of foam rinses very clean, so it suits normal, combination and oily skin best.
Key ingredients
- Glycerin: the second ingredient, a humectant that offsets some of the tight feel foaming cleansers can leave
- Myristic, lauric and palmitic acids with potassium hydroxide: fatty acids that form a rich, creamy soap-type lather
- Sodium methyl stearoyl taurate: a mild surfactant that helps the foam feel cushiony
- Panax notoginseng root extract: a ginseng-family root extract included as a conditioning botanical
- Malpighia glabra (acerola) fruit extract: the same vitamin C–rich fruit extract used in the Original balm
- Tocopheryl acetate: vitamin E, an antioxidant

How to use
- Wet your face with lukewarm water.
- Squeeze a pea- to almond-sized amount into your palm and add a little water.
- Work it into a foam between your hands before it touches your face.
- Massage over the face for 20 to 30 seconds, avoiding the eye area.
- Rinse thoroughly and pat dry, then apply toner and moisturizer.
Lathering in your hands first gives more foam with less product and keeps the cleanser from sitting too long on dry areas.
Who it suits
This foam suits people who like a squeaky-fresh finish: oily and combination skin, humid summers, or anyone pairing it with the Clean It Zero Original balm for a full double cleanse. For the logic of two-step cleansing, see our beginner routine guide.
Who should be careful
Soap-based foams have a higher pH than gentle low-pH cleansers, which can leave dry, sensitive or eczema-prone skin feeling tight. If that happens, keep contact time short or use it only in the evening. It contains fragrance and a red colourant (CI 14700). Keep it out of the eyes.
Patch test first. Apply a small amount to the inner forearm or behind the ear and wait 24 to 48 hours before using it on the face.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Clean It Zero Foam Cleanser good for dry skin?
It can feel stripping on very dry skin because it is a soap-based foam. Dry skin types usually prefer a cream or gel cleanser with a lower pH.
Can I use this foam cleanser on its own?
Yes. On mornings or on no-makeup days, a single wash is enough for many people.
Do I have to use it with the Clean It Zero balm?
No. It works after any oil or balm cleanser, and the balm works with any second cleanser.
Is it suitable for acne-prone skin?
Many oily, acne-prone users like its clean rinse. Watch for dryness if you also use acne treatments.
