Description

What it is

Cream Skin is Laneige’s take on a milk toner: it pours like a toner but has the soft, lotion-like feel of a light cream. The idea is to give skin a dose of hydration and barrier-supporting lipids in the very first step after cleansing. You can pat it in by hand, layer it several times on drier days, or use it as a quick all-in-one on mornings when you want a minimal routine.

The current formula is built around what Laneige calls its Cerapeptide complex, a pairing of ceramides with a peptide, plus extracts of white leaf tea and camellia. The brand says it is dermatologist tested and positions it for sensitive skin. It has no added fragrance in the ingredient list.

Key ingredients

  • Ceramide AP and ceramide NP: skin-identical lipids that help the moisture barrier hold on to water.
  • Acetyl tetrapeptide-11: a peptide the brand includes for the look of firmer, bouncier skin.
  • Squalane and meadowfoam seed oil: light emollients that give the milky, cushioned feel.
  • Hyaluronic acid: a humectant that attracts water to the skin surface.
  • Camellia sinensis (white tea) leaf extract: included to help skin feel calm.
  • Tremella mushroom extract: a hydrating polysaccharide from snow mushroom.

How to use

  1. Shake gently, then dispense a small amount into your palms after cleansing.
  2. Press it into the face and neck until mostly absorbed.
  3. Repeat in thin layers (two or three) if your skin still feels thirsty.
  4. Follow with serum, moisturizer and, in the morning, sunscreen.

Tip: soaking two cotton pads and leaving them on dry cheeks for a few minutes makes a quick hydrating compress.

Who it suits

It is a natural fit for dry and sensitive skin, and for anyone who finds watery toners do too little. People with combination skin often use it only in the colder months. For more barrier-friendly ideas, read our guide to Korean skincare for sensitive skin.

Who should be careful

Very oily or acne-prone skin may find several layers too rich; one layer may be enough. Polyglyceryl-10 stearate and meadowfoam seed oil are sometimes avoided by people prone to fungal acne. Even fragrance-free products can irritate, so watch for redness when you start.

Patch test first. Apply a small amount to the inner forearm or behind the ear and wait 24 to 48 hours before using it on the face.

Frequently asked questions

Is Cream Skin a toner or a moisturizer?

Both, in a light way. It is used in the toner step but leaves a soft, moisturized finish. Most people still apply a cream afterwards, especially at night.

Can oily skin use Cream Skin?

Yes, usually as a single layer. If it feels heavy, try it only at night or only in winter.

How many layers should I apply?

Start with one. On dry days, two or three thin layers pressed in one after another can boost hydration.

Does it contain fragrance?

No fragrance appears in the published ingredient list.
