Description
What it is
The Time Revolution Night Repair Ampoule is the evening counterpart to Missha’s First Treatment Essence. Often called the purple bottle, it is a light serum meant to be applied at night after essence and before moisturizer. In the current 5X version, Missha describes the formula as built around a complex of ten types of probiotic ferments, which it calls Extreme Biome, processed by a multi-step fermentation.
The brand presents it as an overnight treatment for the look of lost firmness, dullness, uneven tone, dehydration and rough texture. Along with the ferments, the ingredient list includes niacinamide, squalane, panthenol, ceramide NP and sodium hyaluronate. The texture is a fluid serum, and it comes in a 50 ml bottle.
Key ingredients
- Bifida ferment lysate: the first ingredient on the list, a probiotic-derived ferment widely used in night serums for a smoother, more resilient-looking complexion.
- Lactobacillus and lactococcus ferments: additional probiotic ferments that make up the brand’s biome complex.
- Niacinamide: helps with the look of uneven tone and dullness.
- Squalane: a lightweight emollient that softens and helps reduce moisture loss.
- Ceramide NP and panthenol: barrier-supporting ingredients for comfort and resilience.
- Adenosine: used in Korean skincare for the look of fine lines.

Who it suits
This serum suits people in their late twenties and up who want a simple overnight step for the look of tired, dull skin, as well as anyone who enjoys ferment-based skincare. Its lightweight texture works for oily and combination skin, and dry skin can follow it with a richer cream. Because it focuses on hydration and barrier support rather than strong actives, it can be easier to fit into a routine than retinoids. Who should be careful
The formula contains several essential oils, including bergamot, orange peel, lavender, geranium and sandalwood, plus limonene, so it is not ideal for people with fragrance allergies or very reactive skin. It also includes swiftlet nest extract, an animal-derived ingredient that vegans may want to avoid, and sunflower seed oil and soybean ferment, which matter for anyone with those allergies. Bergamot oil is known to increase sun sensitivity in some people, so keep up with daily sunscreen.
Patch test first. Apply a small amount to the inner forearm or behind the ear and wait 24 to 48 hours before using it on the face.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use the Night Repair Ampoule in the morning?
Missha designs it for the evening routine. Because it contains bergamot oil, which can increase sun sensitivity, sticking to night use is the safer choice.
Should I use it before or after the First Treatment Essence?
After. The usual order is toner, essence, then this ampoule, then moisturizer.
Can I use it with retinol?
Many people layer a gentle hydrating serum like this with retinoids, but start slowly and use them on alternate nights if your skin gets irritated.
Is it the same as the older Night Repair Science Activator Ampoule?
It belongs to the same purple-bottle line, but Missha has reformulated it over the years, so the ingredient list and name have changed between versions.
