Description
What it is
The Galactomyces Pure Vitamin C Glow Serum is one of Some By Mi’s most popular brightening products. Its first ingredient is galactomyces ferment filtrate, listed by Soko Glam at 75%, and it contains pure vitamin C (ascorbic acid) at a stated 3%, a modest level that the brand positions as approachable for everyday use.
Niacinamide, a second vitamin C form (sodium ascorbyl phosphate), phenylethyl resorcinol and a long list of fruit and plant extracts complete the formula. The brand says it helps skin look brighter, more even and more radiant. The serum has a light brown natural tint that turns clear on the skin, and it should be stored in a cool, dark place to slow oxidation.
Key ingredients
- Galactomyces ferment filtrate: a yeast ferment that forms the base of the serum and is associated with a smoother, more radiant look
- Ascorbic acid (pure vitamin C, 3%): an antioxidant that helps brighten dullness and the look of uneven tone
- Sodium ascorbyl phosphate: a more stable vitamin C derivative that supports the brightening goal
- Niacinamide: vitamin B3, high in the list, for a more even-looking complexion
- Phenylethyl resorcinol: an ingredient used in brightening products for the look of dark spots
- Panthenol, trehalose and sodium hyaluronate: humectants that keep the serum feeling hydrating
- Propolis extract: a bee-derived ingredient included for a soothing, glowy feel

How to use
- Cleanse and apply toner.
- Dispense a few drops into your palm or directly onto the face.
- Spread over the whole face and pat until absorbed.
- Follow with moisturizer.
- In the morning, finish with sunscreen.
Keep the bottle in a cool, dark spot, or in the fridge as the retailer suggests, and close it tightly after each use. If the serum turns noticeably darker orange, the vitamin C may have oxidized.
Who it suits
It suits people who want a gentle introduction to vitamin C, with a low stated percentage and a fermented, hydrating base. It works well in a morning routine under sunscreen, while a retinoid such as the Retinol Intense Reactivating Serum stays at night. For dark circles and under-eye concerns, see our guide to dark circles: causes and treatments.
Who should be careful
It contains bergamot and lavender oils plus the fragrance allergens linalool and limonene; bergamot oil can make skin more sensitive to sunlight, so daytime sunscreen matters. People allergic to bee products should note the propolis. Ascorbic acid can tingle on sensitive or freshly exfoliated skin.
Patch test first. Apply a small amount to the inner forearm or behind the ear and wait 24 to 48 hours before using it on the face.

Frequently asked questions
How much vitamin C is in Some By Mi Galactomyces serum?
Retailer listings state 3% pure ascorbic acid, along with a smaller amount of sodium ascorbyl phosphate.
Why is the serum brown or yellow?
The retailer says it has a natural light brown tint that turns clear on skin; caramel is on the ingredient list. A clearly darker orange colour can be a sign of oxidation.
Can I use it with niacinamide?
It already contains niacinamide, and the two are commonly used together in modern formulas.
Should I use it morning or night?
Either works. Many people prefer the morning, under sunscreen, for its antioxidant role.
