Description

What it is

The Cica Mild Foam Cleanser is VT’s everyday face wash from the same centella line as the Cica Cream. It is a creamy paste that whips into a dense foam with a little water, and it is meant to remove sweat, sunscreen residue and daily grime while leaving skin feeling soft. In a Korean double cleanse, it is the second, water-based step after an oil or balm cleanser.

The formula pairs a classic foaming base with centella asiatica and its compounds, propolis, three types of hyaluronic acid and what the brand calls a Greenol complex of six herbal extracts, including lavender, peppermint, chamomile and rosemary. The 300 ml tube lasts a long time, which is one reason it is a popular value pick.

Key ingredients

  • Centella asiatica extract and compounds: madecassoside, asiaticoside and related actives to help skin feel calm.
  • Propolis extract: a soothing, bee-derived ingredient.
  • Sodium hyaluronate, hydrolyzed and acetylated hyaluronic acid: help skin feel less tight after rinsing.
  • Cocamidopropyl betaine and potassium cocoyl glycinate: milder surfactants that support the foaming base.
  • Herbal extract blend: lavender, bee balm, peppermint, freesia, chamomile and rosemary.
  • Tocopheryl acetate: a form of vitamin E.

  3. Massage over the face in small circles for about 30 seconds.
  4. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry.

Tip: in the evening, use an oil or balm cleanser first to dissolve sunscreen and makeup, then follow with this foam.

Who it suits

It suits normal, combination and oily skin that likes a proper foam, as well as people who want an affordable large-size cleanser. If you are new to double cleansing, our beginner’s Korean skincare routine explains the order. Follow it with the VT Cica Cream for a simple cica routine.

Who should be careful

Like many classic foam cleansers, it uses soap-type ingredients (fatty acids with potassium hydroxide), which can feel drying on very dry or eczema-prone skin. It contains fragrance and several essential-oil-rich extracts, such as lavender and peppermint, that may irritate sensitive skin. Keep it away from the eyes, and note that propolis can affect people allergic to bee products.

Patch test first. Apply a small amount to the inner forearm or behind the ear and wait 24 to 48 hours before using it on the face.

Frequently asked questions

Is VT Cica Mild Foam Cleanser good for sensitive skin?

It includes soothing centella and hyaluronic acid, but also fragrance and a soap-based foam, so sensitive skin should patch test and watch for tightness.

Can I use it in the morning?

Yes. Oily and combination skin often use it twice a day; drier skin may prefer water or a gentler gel in the morning.

Does it remove makeup?

It can lift light makeup, but for sunscreen and long-wear makeup a first cleanse with oil or balm works better.
