Description
What it is
The Vita C Plus Spot Correcting and Firming Ampoule is Missha’s main vitamin C serum. Rather than relying on a single high dose of pure ascorbic acid, it combines several vitamin C forms, including 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid, ascorbyl glucoside and ascorbic acid, in what the brand calls a Vita C liposome formula. It adds tranexamic acid and niacinamide for the look of dark spots, plus hydrolyzed collagen and peptides for a firmer look.
Missha presents it as a two-in-one brightening and wrinkle-care serum aimed at dark spots, discolouration, rough texture and sagging. Missha US lists the pH at about 6.2, which is far less acidic than pure ascorbic acid serums. It comes in a 30 ml bottle.
Key ingredients
- 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid: a stable vitamin C derivative used for brightening the look of dull skin and dark spots.
- Ascorbyl glucoside and ascorbic acid: additional vitamin C forms that round out the brand’s vitamin C complex.
- Tranexamic acid: an ingredient widely used for the look of hyperpigmentation and uneven tone.
- Niacinamide: vitamin B3, which supports a more even-looking tone and smoother texture.
- Arbutin: another brightening ingredient that targets the look of dark spots.
- Hydrolyzed collagen and peptides (palmitoyl tripeptide-5, acetyl hexapeptide-8): included for a firmer, smoother look.
- Sea buckthorn water and licorice root extract: botanical bases with antioxidant and soothing reputations.

Who it suits
This serum suits people dealing with dark spots, post-blemish marks, sun spots or general dullness who want a multi-ingredient approach. Because it uses gentler vitamin C derivatives at a mild pH, it can be an option for people who found pure ascorbic acid serums too stinging, while tranexamic acid and niacinamide add extra support for uneven tone. It is also a reasonable fit for people noticing the first signs of lost firmness. For pigmentation under the eyes, read our article on dark circles under the eyes.
Who should be careful
The serum contains several essential oils (orange peel, grapefruit peel, eucalyptus and lavender), which can irritate fragrance-sensitive skin. It also lists soybean oil and a hydrolyzed wheat protein, which matter for people with soy or wheat allergies. Combining many brightening actives can be too much for very reactive skin, so introduce it slowly and avoid layering it with strong exfoliants at first.
Patch test first. Apply a small amount to the inner forearm or behind the ear and wait 24 to 48 hours before using it on the face.

Frequently asked questions
What percentage of vitamin C is in the Missha Vita C Plus ampoule?
Missha does not publish a single vitamin C percentage. It describes a 33 percent Vita C liposome formula, which refers to the complex as a whole rather than pure vitamin C.
Can I use it with niacinamide or retinol?
It already contains niacinamide. If you use retinol, apply this serum in the morning and the retinoid at night to limit irritation.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Its vitamin C derivatives and mild pH make it gentler than many pure ascorbic acid serums, but the essential oils and multiple actives can still bother very reactive skin. Patch test and introduce it a few times a week at first.
How long before I see results on dark spots?
Brightening ingredients usually need several weeks of consistent use, along with daily sunscreen, before changes in the look of spots become noticeable.
